About the Conference
The International Trade and Finance Association (ITFA) Conference is a prestigious gathering of scholars, researchers, and practitioners in the fields of economics, finance, business, and international relations. It serves as a forum to explore the latest advancements in international trade and finance across various research areas.
The 2026 ITFA Annual Conference is organized in partnership with the Committee of Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Poznań University of Economics and Business (Poland).
This collaboration highlights the strong involvement of both institutions in supporting excellence in international economics and finance research. CES PAS contributes its academic leadership and expertise, while PUEB provides a dynamic academic environment and hosts the conference in the historic city of Poznań.
The partnership with the Poznań University of Economics and Business and the Committee of Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences reflects the strong engagement of Polish academic institutions in promoting global dialogue and research on international trade and finance.

Lucian Cernat: European Commission

Lucian Cernat currently serves as Head of Global Regulatory Cooperation and International Procurement Negotiations at DG TRADE of the European Commission. (CEPR) Previously he spent over a decade as the Commission’s Chief Trade Economist, offering economic advice that helps shape policies governing more than €4.5 trillion in EU trade flows annually. (World Trade Organization) Before joining the European Commission, he worked at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, and prior to that was a trade negotiator for the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs — including contributions to bilateral free-trade agreements preceding Romania’s EU accession. (CEPR CIRANO) Dr. Cernat holds a PhD from the University of Manchester and a postgraduate diploma from University of Oxford; he has authored more than 20 publications on trade policy, global supply chains, services trade, and corporate governance, and regularly contributes columns and reports for platforms such as VoxEU.

2. ITFA Fellows Induction Ceremony: Join us in celebrating the induction of new ITFA Fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the field.
3. Conference Dinner: All conference attendees are invited to attend the conference dinner.
4. Conference Excursion: All conference attendees are invited to attend a cultural excursion to complement the academic experience of the conference while building networking opportunities for participating scholars.
The Global Economy Journal will consider the best papers presented at the conference for submission. Authors will have the opportunity to submit their work to this JCR-indexed journal.

Fees Include: One-year ITFA Membership, subscription to the Global Economy Journal, access to Mondo Data Science Platform, networking events, reception, lunches, and a gala dinner. There will be a special workshop for graduate students where they can receive feedback on their papers.

Accepted papers can elect to be assigned a discussant.
